Department of Statistics
The Department of Statistics was established in the year 1958 as a part of Mathematics Department and then separated; an independent Department in the year 1962 under the able supervision of founder teacher Prof. M.P.Sastry. It offers two major post-graduate courses M.Sc. Statistics and M.Sc. Applied Statistics. The major challenging thrust areas of ongoing research in the Department of Statistics are, Statistical Inference, Econometrics, Operations Research, Data Envelopment Analysis, Statistical Quality control and Applied Regression Analysis.

Eligibility :

1. M. Sc. Statistics (General : 30) : B.A. / B.Sc. with Mathematics and Statistics as two of the three Subjects.
2. M.Sc. Applied Statistics (General : 12) : B.A. / B.Sc. with Mathematics and Statistics as two of the three subjects (or) B. Tech. in any branch.
3. M.Sc. Statistics with Computer Applications (Self finance : 20) : B.A./B.Sc. with Statistics and Mathematics

Local Candidates : 85% of the available seats in each category in every course of study are reserved in favour of the local candidates from the districts of Kurnool, Ananthapur, kadapa, Chittor and Nellore.
Number of Seats : Total :62 ( Regular:42 and Self Finance :20 )
Entrance Exam Syllabusand Patteren : The 100 questions are spread over three parts, viz., A,B & C.

Section A: contains 30 questions(30 marks: Descriptive Statistics and Probability Distributions)
Section B: contains 30 questions (30 marks : Statistical Methods and Inference) and
Section C: contains 40 questions (40 marks:Applied Statistics)
No Negative Marks.
SVUYVUPGCET will be conducted at the following Test Centres:

The Fee concession in respect of S.C. / S.T. / B.C. / EBC will be followed as per the G.O’s in vogue.
